A writer's blog in down time
Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 02:48PM It is a strange thing being a writer with a blog between big projects.
On the one hand, I could let you in on the nitty-gritty of all writers do between the time one book or set of books comes out and the time when there is news on the next. But there is only so much one can blog about pairing socks and tweaking manuscripts. I could wax poetic about agents and editors and fellow writers and people who romanticize about the life of a writer. But, that would lead to a direct interface with my bitter side, and the Internet has enough rants already.
I have gotten the garden in decent shape. I do have some potential poems in the works. I am waiting on what would be truly momentous news.
But in the meantime, I have another idea. And it is an idea that I am hoping may be helpful to those of you who want to be picture book writers.
The idea is to use this journal as a log to chart a picture book from genisis through publication. I will begin with my next post: The sketch.
Until then, I need to head over the scbwi site to update my membership. Because being a member of SCBWI is the first step of getting a picture published.
